In the fall of 2016, Hamburg was all about Fintech: More than 1,000 stakeholders from the fintech and banking sector came together to discuss the disruption of the industry, network and create strategies for the future. Fintech Week Hamburg combined 13 different events: from a networking breakfast to highclass conferences.
Fintech Week Hamburg showcased all that Hamburg has to offer: The northern city has both established financial institutions and a flourishing startup scene whose players are pushing innovation forward. Main hub for the Fintech Week is the betahaus Hamburg, the city’s premiere coworking space and focal point for startups. Betahaus CEO Robert Beddies and colleagues have co-developed the event concept with Clas Beese and Carolin Neumann, founders of the fintech newsletter finletter. The business publication was founded in 2014 and reaches more than 2,000 readers in the exact demographic the Fintech Week caters to.
With different sorts of events, Fintech Week brought different stakeholders together: beginners and experts, freelancers and C-level, fintech founders and bank executives. Strong partners from different branches such as Haspa or comdirect, HR service provider Bankpower and one of Hamburg’s foremost fintech companies, figo, supported Fintech Week Hamburg.
It was be the first time in Germany that fintech was the topic of an entire week’s programme. Among the many offerings there were networking events such as the betabreakfast, the Bankathon, comdirect’s Finance Barcamp, two conferences, pitches, a Fuckup Night special and the Fintech Career Day. The Fintech Week Hamburg was held almost entirely in German.
